I went to see Attack of the Clones yesterday. I wasn't a massive fan of The
Phantom Menace, although I didn't think it was as bad as many people made
out. However, Attack of the Clones is fantastic. It takes a little while to get
going, but as CmdrTaco of slashdot said, we finally get enough light sabre action :-).
The CG characters almost seem to be yet another generation ahead of those we
saw in TPM. Yoda in particular is excellent - as a character he really appears
to be in the film - you just forget that he only exists in a rendering package. His facial expressions in particular
are very convincing, and to get all technical for a minute, the texturing and
displacement techniques used on his face and body really make him seem like a
real creature. Plus, we finally get to see why Yoda is the most respected
Jedi Knight...and it's worth the wait.
