I discovered by accident that I can run multiple instances of Memento when Explorer crashed. Since the systray icon didn't get restored, I just restarted Memento to get the icon back without much thought.
Perhaps it was a bad day, for Explorer crashed on me a few more times, and each time I ran Memento to get the systray icon back. Then for some other reason I opened Task Manager, and to my surprise I saw a dozen instances of Memento running. Since its memory footprint is quite small, it's hardly noticable.
I suggest that future versions of Memento should check if there are other instances of itself running. If so, restore the systray icon, if necessary, then quit.

Yes, it has been pointed out to me, and I've fixed that issue. Memento copes with Explorer crashes etc, and reinstates the icon on the notification area, etc.
The next public release will have this all fixed.
Thanks for letting me know, though.
