Hi, I have enjoyed and used Memento everyday for the last year or so and really appreciate your work. The last time I turned my computer on (XP Pro), my notes were gone. I went to an earlier backup, January 05, and installed it into "My Documents" in place of the newer made "memento.notes" which was like 1KB. I deleted the 1KB that was just made and replaced it with my older "memento.notes"(63KB), but it will not take the older backup, it keeps making a new "memento.notes" file that has nothing in it. Any ideas? I am using 1.09. Thank you for any help.

Ok, job #1 - keep your backup file!

That is, don't just accidentally move it into My Documents and let Memento over-write it :-)

Anyway, what you need to do is:

1. Quit Memento. Otherwise you can restore your backup file all you like, but Memento will just over-write it with an empty file when it quits (or if you add a new note), as you have found.

2. *Copy* your backup notes file into My Documents, overwriting the 1Kb file.

3. Run Memento. You should see your new notes. If not, get back to me.

If that all works, then the next thing to do is upgrade to the latest version of Memento, as I have fixed this bug in versions v1.10 and later.

hi,

read the below and seems that my memento notes - a lot of notes - have disappeared into the ether. I rolled windows back to earlier restores points but still nothing seems to be found. They disappeared yesterday. Any thoughts as to if I can recover them? Nothing is in my documents folder except the 1k memento file.

thanks,

rob
